E3 2015

The following are my personal favorite games from the 2015 E3.  Actually, most the games this year look incredible, so instead of listing all the games, I'll list the ones I'd like to play, and the ones I'll likely play.

Games I would like to play if I had the time

Doom - Best graphics of the show so far.  I'm sure the demo was running on a top of the line PC, but still.  I'm tired of Halo, and CoD, so this game looked right for me.  Bethesda stole the show before it even started.  Best graphics, and best overall game so far (Fallout 4).

Forza 6 - the in game cars looked better than the actual car.  I don't know much about cars, but I like racing them, having a virtual garage and upgrading them.  This game looked absolutely phenomenal.
Gears 4 - This game is the showcase for Unreal engine 4, much like the original Gears was the showcase for Unreal engine 3.  Again, phenomenal graphics.  Those wind physics were out of this world.  I love the cover based gameplay, and co-op.

Star Wars: Fallen Empire - Me and my buddy were talking about how much we would love a new Bioware KOTOR.  I don't really do the MMO thing, it's just a personal preference. However, if I had the time, I would love to live in this world for a while.  The story looks badass, and the costume aesthetic were obviously worked on tirelessly.   I just wish it was single player.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands - color me surprised by this one.  GR:W is the open world nonlinear tactical shooter I never knew I wanted.  It made a big debut, and I think it has enough unique features to set it apart from its stiff competition.

Need for Speed - This racing game also looked fantastic.

Last Guardian - As a big fan of ICO, this game looks amazing.  Again, the graphics were top notch. The environment is so detailed too, and I bet the game has some incredible puzzles.

Firewatch - Any first person game that isn't a shooter is always welcome.  I hope this game sells well, and we can come off the FPS games that have been dominating the industry for the past 10 years.

No Mans Sky - I love the soft aesthetics and exploration gameplay.  Definitely a unique concept, and the hardware can finally support this type of game.

Uncharted 4- This game looks so badass.  The amount of environmental detail is mind boggling.

Games I will fight to play

Fallout 4 - This game ruined all other games. There is basically no reason to buy anything else. F4 quickly became the game to beat this conference, and I'm not sure that it has been (Nintendo's Direct still hasn't happened at the time of this writing). I even called it a Minecraft killer.

Recore - I love the art style on this game. Also, the creator of Mega Man AND the Metroid Prime team?  STFU and take all my money. This game sold me on the Xbox One.

Rise of the Tomb Raider - I loved the first game, and this looks like more of the same. This game is more Zelda then Zelda these days. More Metroid than Metroid. I love environmental puzzles, and I can't wait to get my hands on this.

Mass Effect: Andromeda - No actual gameplay footage, but I will definitely be playing this.

Star Wars: Battlefront - I will buy this game, die a lot, and keep playing. I hope there is a spectator mode.  I'm sure this game will sell, like, a million copies.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake - ARE YOU SERIOUS?!

Shenmue 3 WTF

Holy crap, Shenmue 3?  I completely forgot about that game.  I was trying, with difficulty, to describe what type of game it was.  A mundane life simulator?  Kind of like Myst, in the sense there are puzzles?  I have no clue.

I was blown away by the original on the Dreamcast.  Well, blown away and kind of bored.  The graphic where top of the line, and the environments were amazing.  I remember when the developer said that he had 9 games planned, and that he had this huge saga in mind.  The first one is evidence of that.  Forklift simulator?  I think the first one cost too much, and didn't sell well enough to warrant 8 other games, so they compressed the story for the second game.

Every story needs an ending, and I'm glad Shenmue is getting one.  Are there fans out there still?  I got kickstarted in 9 hours, so I'd say yes.  I hope it was worth the wait.
